WebStanding by the coast road (A149) within the parish of Burnham Overy Staithe, between Brancaster and Wells-next-the-Sea. Built by John Savory in 1816, it was last used as a corn mill in 1914 before it was ‘tailwinded’ in a storm. Mr H C Hughes rescued the derelict building in 1926 and finally presented it to the National Trust in 1958. WebIt follows the dyke towards the River Thurne where you pass the white painted Thurne Dyke Drainage Mill. This is one of the most photographed mills in the area and was built in 1820. In 1949 the windmill was bought by Bob Morse and was eventually restored with assistance from the Norfolk Windmills Trust.
